Jagran Correspondent, Varanasi: The monsoon, which usually arrives in Purvanchal by June 20, arrived 10 days late on Tuesday, covering Purvanchal and half of northern Uttar Pradesh. The India Meteorological Department has issued an alert in this regard. IMD has indicated monsoon activity in several districts of the state, including Purvanchal, along with cloud movement and heavy rainfall.
IMD Issues Alert
As per IMD’s alert issued on Tuesday afternoon, people have been asked to remain alert as there is a possibility of thunder/lightning/sudden strong wind (30-40 kmph) along with moderate rainfall in Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Prayagraj districts and surrounding areas.
Rain, Thunderstorms To Hit Several Districts
Light rain with thunder, lightning and sudden strong wind (30-40 kmph) is expected in Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Prayagraj, Sant Ravi Das Nagar, Varanasi, Ghazipur, Jaunpur, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Kasganj, Azamgarh, Mau, Ambedkar Nagar, Gorakhpur, Bahraich, Siddharth Nagar, Balrampur, Shravasti, Shahjahanpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Rampur, Badaun, Sambhal, Moradabad districts and surrounding areas.
IMD has stated that several states throughout the nation are set to witness rainfall for the next few days. The weather department asserted that multiple states, including Delhi, Bihar, West Bengal, and Jharkhand, are also set to experience thunderstorms and gusty winds. The rainfall is likely to provide relief from the scorching heat by reducing the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius.
The weather department, in its advisory, stated that the coastal districts of the southern states are set to witness moderate to heavy rainfall for the next few days. It stated that different regions of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu are set to witness rainfall.
The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and plan their days accordingly to avoid any inconveniences. Apart from this, the farmers and fishermen have been advised to limit their financial activities during the rain.
