An IndiGo flight from Chennai to Mumbai received a bomb threat on Saturday morning, resulting in a full emergency being declared at the Mumbai airport, as per reports. The flight number 6E 5314, took off from Chennai at around 7 am and landed at the Mumbai airport at around 8:45 am. The airport authorities immediately swung into action after the IndiGo crew found a note in the lavatory stating that there was a bomb. There were 172 people onboard the flight.

This comes after a Vistara flight from Delhi to Srinagar with 177 passengers and one infant onboard received a bomb threat on Friday, following which the airline and security forces took swift action. However, Flight no-UK-611, which departed from Delhi, safely landed at Srinagar Airport at approximately 12:10 AM.

Following standard protocol for such threats, the aircraft was immediately directed to an isolation bay upon landing, as reported by news agency ANI. An Airport official said that all the passengers travelling in the plane were safely de-boarded at the isolation bay. “Currently, the aircraft is undergoing a thorough security check by the relevant authorities to ensure the safety of all concerned," the official told ANI.

A Varanasi-bound flight received a bomb threat on Tuesday morning following which a situation of panic erupted at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. Following the investigation, police declared that it was a hoax.

Earlier in May this year, a flight from Bhubaneswar to New Delhi returned minutes after take-off and made an emergency landing after the aircraft was caught in a hailstorm and suffered damage on Wednesday, an official said.

According to the officials, the New Delhi-bound Vistara flight landed back at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) nearly 10 minutes after taking off. The aircraft's windshield developed a crack due to the hailstorm that lashed several parts of Odisha this afternoon.
