Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has announced a strict crackdown on travel agents involved in sending youth abroad through illegal routes, commonly referred to as ‘dunki’ travel. Speaking on Sunday, Saini emphasised that authorities are actively identifying such agents and will take decisive action against them.
His statement comes in response to the recent deportation of over 100 Indian immigrants from the United States. The individuals were found to be living in the country illegally and were expelled as part of a broader immigration enforcement drive under the Trump administration.
33 Deportees from Haryana
Among the deported individuals, 33 hailed from Haryana, while others were from Punjab, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh. The large number of deportations has raised concerns about the role of fraudulent travel agents who lure young aspirants with false promises of a better future abroad. These agents often charge exorbitant fees and arrange unauthorised travel routes, putting migrants at serious risk.
Saini also announced that the state government will introduce a strict law to curb illegal immigration, which will be presented in the upcoming budget session.

Saini Praises Delhi Voters For Supporting BJP
Meanwhile, Saini hosted a luncheon at the 38th Surajkund International Crafts Mela in Faridabad, attended by Haryana ministers, Union ministers, BJP MLAs, and senior party leaders.
Speaking at the event, Saini praised Delhi’s voters for endorsing BJP’s policies, claiming they would now fully benefit from Central Government schemes. He accused former CM Arvind Kejriwal of misleading the public on issues like Yamuna cleaning, clean water supply, and road construction. He also alleged that Kejriwal deprived people of welfare schemes like Ayushman Bharat.

Growing Concerns Over Illegal Immigration
The issue of illegal immigration has been a growing concern, particularly in states like Punjab and Haryana, where many young people seek opportunities abroad. In recent years, there has been a rise in cases of Indian migrants using unauthorised routes through Central America and Mexico to enter the US. Many fall prey to human traffickers and endure extreme hardships during their journey, including detention in foreign countries. Some even lose their lives while attempting to cross treacherous borders.
