Uttarakhand Liquor Ban: The Uttarakhand government has extended the ban on liquor in several areas in the state. According to the latest update, liquor will be banned at various pilgrimage sites, including Char Dham, i.e. Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri, as well as in Reeth Sahib, Hemkund Sahib, Purnagiri and Nanakmatta. Neither shops will be open nor will alcohol consumption be allowed in these areas.

The government has ordered not to open any liquor shops in the prohibited areas. The Uttarakhand government has also increased the scope of prohibition areas in Haridwar and Rishikesh. Principal Secretary LN Fanai issued an order stating that there will be a prohibition of liquor within the prescribed limits before the establishment of the Municipal Corporation in Haridwar.

The government announced a ban on alcohol in the entire Municipal Corporation area of Rishikesh. They have also declared the prohibition of alcohol within a radius of two kilometres of the Virbhadra Temple in Rishikesh.

Additionally, no liquor shops can be opened within a radius of 1.8 kilometres of Piran Kaliyar, Jagran.com reported. Not only will liquor shops not open here, but drinking alcohol is also prohibited in these areas.

Earlier, the Uttarakhand government banned alcohol sale in urban areas of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, Yamunotri, Haridwar and Rishikesh. But, now under the latest order, the government has included Reeth Sahib, Hemkund Sahib and Nanakmatta in the prohibited list.
