A viral video showing a bike-riding policeman slapping a young man crossing the road has triggered widespread outrage on social media. The incident, which took place in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore, has drawn criticism for the policeman's misconduct, with many demanding strict action against the cop.
The policeman, identified as Head Constable Jayaprakash from Kavundampalayam Police Station, was caught on video slapping a young man engaged in his mobile phone while crossing the road. The CCTV footage shows the young man, later identified as Mohan Raj, narrowly avoiding a collision with the constable’s bike. The officer then stopped and slapped him hard, causing the youth to sit on the road in pain.

Mohan Raj, a resident of Chinna Vedapatti and an employee of a private company, was reportedly heading to a shop in Nallampalayam to purchase items for his workplace when the incident occurred.

The viral video has sparked a stir in the area and online. Social media users criticised Constable Jayaprakash not only for his aggressive behaviour but also for violating traffic rules by riding without a helmet. Many are demanding accountability, stating that the officer failed to set a responsible example.
