Delhi Weather Today: Delhi-NCR is experiencing an intense heatwave, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow warning for warm nights. Today, temperatures in the region are expected to be uncomfortably high, with both day and night temperatures reaching alarming levels. Residents are urged to take precautions as the heat persists.

Delhi Temperature Today

The News 18 Hindi report cited Dr. RK Jenamani, a senior meteorologist at the IMD, the maximum temperature in Delhi on April 9 is projected to hit 41 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will hover around 25 degrees. This is significantly above the normal range. Noida and Ghaziabad are forecasted to see maximum temperatures of 40 degrees, while Gurgaon will experience a slightly cooler day at 39 degrees. The minimum temperatures in these areas will range between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius.

Delhi AQI

The air quality index (AQI) also reflects the current conditions, with Delhi reporting an AQI of 365, indicating unhealthy air quality. Noida and Ghaziabad have AQIs of 163 and 166, respectively, while Gurgaon stands at 155.

Delhi Weather Forecast

However, a significant change in weather is on the horizon. Starting tomorrow, April 10, the IMD forecasts heavy rain across Delhi-NCR, which will bring much-needed relief from the heat. Clouds are expected to gather, leading to light rain on April 10 and 11, which will lower temperatures by approximately two degrees Celsius. With winds set to blow at speeds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour, the oppressive heatwave alert will be lifted.

Dr. Jenamani confirmed that the heatwave is anticipated to end today, with no further warnings expected until at least April 15. Residents can look forward to a more pleasant atmosphere in the coming days, marking a welcome respite from the sweltering temperatures.
