Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a new weather forecast, indicating a mixed weather pattern across the country. Severe heatwave conditions are expected in Gujarat, Rajasthan and various parts of central and northern India. In contrast, eastern states can look forward to fresh rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, providing a much-needed break from rising temperatures.

Several weather systems are currently affecting conditions in India. A cyclonic circulation over Northeast Assam and another over the Southeast Bay of Bengal, along with a trough extending from Madhya Maharashtra to Tamil Nadu, are bringing in moist winds and creating atmospheric instability.

Weather Today: IMD Forecasts Rain In Andhra, Kerala, Karnataka And Tamil Nadu

Residents of Andhra Pradesh should prepare for rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds today, April 6. The IMD also forecasts light showers in Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, with surface winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 km/h. These weather changes are linked to the active cyclonic circulations mentioned earlier.

Weather Update: Heavy Rain In Andaman; Showers Likely In Bihar, Bengal, Jharkhand

According to the IMD, heavy rainfall is anticipated in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands today, while Northeast India will likely experience storms and hail from April 6 to 9. Commuters in Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal and Jharkhand should be cautious, as rain may disrupt traffic from April 7 to 9. Hailstorms are also expected in Assam and Meghalaya today, in addition to Bihar on April 8.

Heavy rain forecasts for several southern states over the coming days. Citizens are advised to stay indoors, close windows and avoid travel if possible. The states most likely to be affected include Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Assam, and Meghalaya.

A new western disturbance is expected to influence the Western Himalayan region from April 8, bringing scattered light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms and gusty winds across Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand from April 8 to 11.

Heatwave Update: Temperature To Rise In Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana

While some areas will see rain, many regions in northern and central India are likely to face heatwave conditions. Temperatures are predicted to rise steadily, particularly in places like Saurashtra, Rajasthan and parts of Delhi and Haryana from April 6 to 10.

Temperature Trends

The IMD has forecast a gradual increase in maximum temperatures across several regions, with a notable rise of 3–5 degrees Celsius expected in northwest and central India until April 9. However, a drop in temperatures is anticipated after that due to the influence of the western disturbances.

Delhi Weather Update: Temperature To Rise From April 6-8

In Delhi and the National Capital Region, residents should prepare for a brief but intense heat wave. From April 6 to 8, temperatures are expected to reach highs of 40–42 degrees Celsius. The IMD advises everyone to stay hydrated and avoid outdoor activities during peak heat hours.
