Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for dense fog in Delhi-NCR and western regions of Uttar Pradesh in the upcoming days. The weather department stated that these regions will continue to tackle dense fog and cold waves, especially in the early hours of the day. The IMD has also forecast light rain in these regions on January 22 and 23. The rain might lead to a further dip in the temperature.

The dense fog has affected the transportation of the national capital and the regions nearby. Apart from Delhi-NCR, states like Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar are also dealing with the low visibility. While several of the flights got delayed on Friday, the passengers were seen waiting on the railway platforms as the trains were late too.

The reduced visibility is also affecting the daily commuters of the northern states. The IMD stated that the minimum temperature recorded on Friday in Delhi was 8.8 degrees Celsius, 1.2 degrees more than the usual temperature. More than 27 trains operating from New Delhi railway station got delayed because of the dense fog.

The IMD informed that several districts of Punjab are also expected to deal with dense fog in the morning and evening hours. The minimum temperature recorded in Pathankot on Friday was 2.8 degrees Celsius. Several districts of Haryana and Rajasthan are also expected to grapple with the issue of dense fog.

Besides, the IMD clarified that the hilly regions, including Jammu-Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, are expected to experience snowfall and light rainfall from January 20 to 23. It further stated that the several districts of Uttarakhand, including Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh, are expected to receive light rainfall in the next two days. Apart from this, the temperature is likely to drop in Bengaluru and other districts of Karnataka in the upcoming days.
