World T20 2024: After India lifted the T20 World Cup trophy, defeating South Africa by 7 runs on Saturday in Barbados, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended congratulations to the Rohit Sharma-led team. While hailing the cricketing performance of team India in the jaw-dropping final match, PM Modi said that 140 crore people of the country are proud of them. He further said that the team not only won the T20 World Cup but the hearts of 140 crore people in the country.

"CHAMPIONS! Our team brings the T20 World Cup home in STYLE! We are proud of the Indian Cricket Team. This match was HISTORIC," posted PM Modi with a video message for the Indian Cricket Team.

As the whole country poured showers of praises on the team, the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi also took to X to share his greetings. Hailing the efforts of Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma's captaincy and Rahul Dravid's guidance, Rahul Gandhi said that the "spectacular Men in Blue have made our country proud."

"Congratulations to Team India on a spectacular World Cup Victory and a phenomenal performance throughout the tournament! Surya, what a brilliant catch! Rohit, this win is a testament to your leadership. Rahul, I know Team India will miss your guidance. The spectacular Men in Blue have made our country proud," Rahul Gandhi said.
