Yamuna Expressway: Locals To Get Toll-Free Travel From Sept 17; Check Required Documents

Jagran correspondent, Jewar (Greater Noida): There is good news for commuters who live near the Yamuna Expressway , as toll charges will be exempted for the eligible local residents passing through Jewar Toll Plaza on Yamuna Expressway from September 17. This follows a demand of nearly 14 years ago. Local vehicle owners, however, must go through a certain registration process to be eligible for the scheme.

Meanwhile, vehicles will only be granted toll exemption status following successful registration and document verification.

To qualify, eligible vehicle owners must visit the designated office at the Jewar Toll Plaza to register. Applicants must provide proof of local residence (Aadhaar Card) and the vehicle’s Registration Certificate (RC). Staff members will log the applicant and vehicle details and then verify both the residency proof and vehicle documents.

Vehicles verified as eligible will be issued a specialised FASTag configured for the toll waiver, enabling free travel between Jewar and Greater Noida. Simply residing in the Jewar area does not automatically exempt a vehicle; the benefit is strictly limited to residents of designated eligible villages. Exemptions are applied only after all eligibility criteria and document checks are finalised.

Since the inauguration of Yamuna Expressway, local residents have been demanding for daily toll relief. Regular use of the expressway is not only needed to reach the district headquarters but also for day-to-day work, education and healthcare, say farmers and locals.
