The Jharkhand government has announced that Sahiyas, community health workers under the National Health Mission (NHM), will receive a fixed monthly incentive of Rs 5,500 starting April 2026. In addition, they will continue to earn specified amounts for implementing various health programmes for beneficiaries.
Currently, Sahiyas receive Rs 2,000 from the NHM and an additional Rs 2,000 under the Jharkhand Swasthya Prahari Yojana (Jharkhand Health Guardian Scheme), bringing their total monthly incentive to Rs 4,000.
With the new revision, the NHM component will increase by Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,500, and combined with the state’s Rs 2,000 contribution, the total monthly incentive will rise to Rs 5,500.
The Health Department has sanctioned Rs 1,08,34,65,000 from the state budget for additional incentives for Sahiyas, Sahiya Sathis (community health worker facilitators), and the Block Trainer Team for the current financial year.

State Health Minister Dr Irfan Ansari described Sahiyas as the backbone of Jharkhand’s healthcare system, noting that the additional incentives are intended to strengthen their capacity and enable them to serve the public more effectively. He also urged Sahiyas to actively cooperate in ensuring better and timely treatment for all patients.
