Sikandar Kher plays Kasab's defence lawyer in the film. His character challenges the prosecution's case and seeks to have the trial moved to a juvenile court, which could have helped Kasab avoid the death penalty.

Talking about playing Kasab in an interview with ETimes, Lalit described the role as a difficult challenge. He said he first had to understand Kasab's psychology to portray him on screen.

"It was a challenge, a very difficult role, for various reasons. Firstly, I had to understand the psychology of Kasab in order to become him on screen and perform accordingly."

He further added, "I had to catch the nuances of his language, which is different from ours, and adapt his body language. But more than that, I wanted to do something that even I had never imagined myself doing. I have always wanted to see myself in roles that were never envisioned for me. I like expanding my boundaries."

Who Was Ajmal Kasab?

Ajmal Kasab was a Pakistani terrorist who took part in the horrifying Mumbai 26/11 attack. Reportedly, he was a member of the militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). 

He was captured alive on the night of November 26, 2008, at Girgaon Chowpatty. Assistant Sub-Inspector Tukaram Omble played a crucial role in stopping him. Omble disarmed Kasab despite suffering fatal injuries.

The legal battle continued for nearly four years and drew attention across the world. Ujjwal Nikam and the prosecution team presented evidence establishing Kasab's role in the 26/11 attacks. He was convicted and later executed in November 2012.

Ajmal Kasab became one of the most closely followed legal proceedings in India's history.
