Kolkata Traffic Advisory For Christmas: The Kolkata Traffic Police has issued an advisory for December 24 and 25 to regulate vehicular movement during Christmas celebrations. The traffic restrictions will be in place from 4 pm on December 24 to 4 am on December 25. According to the advisory, normal traffic flow will be allowed on Park Street, Camac Street, and Shakespeare Sarani from December 26 to December 30, subject to proper assessment of the police.
Kolkata Traffic Advisory: Roads Which Will Be Closed
According to the traffic advisory issued by the Kolkata police, the following roads will be closed:
- AJC Bose Road & Chowringhee Road crossing (towards north)
- AJC Bose Road & Harish Mukherjee Road & Cathedral Road crossing (towards north)
- AJC Bose Road & Hospital Road (West) crossing (towards north)
- Strand Road & Gosthapal Sarani crossing (towards East)
- Strand Road & Auckland Road crossing (towards East)
- Red Road & Mayo Road crossing
- Mayo Road & Dufferin Road crossing
- Cathedral Road & Queens Way crossing
- Chowringhee Road & Shakespeare Sarani crossing
- Esplanade crossing (towards South)
- Government Place East & Esplanade Row East crossing (towards South)
- Government Place East & R.R. Avenue crossing (towards South)
Restrictions On December 25
Two-way traffic will not be implemented before 2 pm on December 25 on Park Street, Camac Street, Theatre Road, Little Russell Street, Lord Sinha Road, Pretoria Street, Hungerford Street, and Shakespeare Sarani. Additionally, all the connecting and feeder roads except Chowringhee Road will be open for public. Here are the guidelines for the vehicular movement on December 25:
- Park Street (from J.L. Nehru Road crossing to Wood Street crossing) and the entire Middleton Street will remain closed.
- Only eastbound traffic will be allowed on Ho-Chi-Minh Sarani.
- Two-way traffic will ply on Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road from Royd Street crossing to Park Street crossing.
- Russel Street will be “No Entry” for vehicular traffic, while Little Russel Street will be closed from the Shakespeare Sarani crossing.
- Two-way traffic will not be allowed on Shakespeare Sarani, Camac Street, Little Russel Street, Lord Sinha Road, and Hungerford Street without permission from TCR.
- Park Street and A.J.C. Bose Road-bound vehicles coming from Outram Road will take Ho-Chi-Minh Sarani to Camac Street and then Short Street or Wood Street to reach Park Street, or Camac Street or J.L. Nehru Road to reach A.J.C. Bose Road.
- Park Street-bound vehicles coming via Mayo Road or J.L. Nehru Road will take Kyd Street up to Free School Street, then Royd Street up to Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road, and then turn right to Park Street.
- Southbound vehicles on J.L. Nehru Road intending to proceed further south from Park Street crossing will either use the Park Street Flyover or take a right turn onto Mayo Road, then Dufferin Road to reach Outram Road or Khidderpore Road.
- Vehicles on Shakespeare Sarani will be allowed to move only up to the J.L. Nehru Road crossing.
- Auto-rickshaws may use Free School Street, Marquis Street, Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road (Foul), and Elliot Road instead of the Free School Street–Royd Street–Elliot Road route.
- Both-way traffic will be allowed on Camac Street from Ho-Chi-Minh Sarani up to the Short Street crossing.
- Westbound traffic on Elliot Road may be restricted from the A.J.C. Bose Road crossing, if required.

Nehru Road to Wood Street), Middleton Street, Short Street, Wood Street (Short Street to Park Street), Ho-Chi-Minh Sarani, Camac Street, Middleton Street to Short Street, Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road (Royd Street to Park Street), Little Russel Street, Free School Street (Park Street to Kyd Street), Elliot Road, and adjoining stretches.
