Google's Phone app is a default choice for making calls on diverse Android smartphones. In an attempt to improve user experience, the company is reportedly working on a feature to add sound effects during calls in the background, according to TheSpAndroid. The feature could be named 'audiomojis' and may be available in a future version of the app.
Audiomojis was first spotted by SmartDroid. The platform claimed it may debut on Pixel phones. According to the report, the feature was spotted as "sound reactions" in September but disappeared from the beta build later. Recently, audiomojis were spotted in the '124' version of the beta channel.
It will likely be similar to reaction effects in the Google Messages app, where animated effects appear when users react to a message with an emoji. Likewise, the Phone app may offer screen effects with sounds, the report noted. A total of six reactions may arrive in the beginning: applause, sad, cry, party popper, laugh, drum roll and poop.
These sound effects have been directly added to the code of the Phone app. With the sound effects, it will also have a GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) animation and a background. The report did not share a release timeline for rollout due to the missing codes and the rough nature of the feature in the beta version of the Phone app.

While the effect may appear on the caller screen, a possibility hints that the feature may be only available to users via the "Call Screen" feature. Users may be able to add these sound effects between calls to improve the experience, depending on the nature of the conversation. Do note that Google has not confirmed the development of the feature. Hence, readers should take the details in the report with a pinch of salt.
