Following the encounter of filmmaker Rohit Arya on Thursday, October 30, a disturbing sequence of events has been revealed by city-based actress Ruchita Vijay Jadhav. In a long Instagram post, Jadhav said that Arya had contacted her and asked her to meet to discuss a ‘film project’ on October 4. The project was about a hostage situation.
The post further read, “On October 23, he asked if we could meet on the 27th, 28th or the 29th. I confirmed that I could meet on the 28th. On the 27th of October, he sent me the details- including the location of a studio in Powai- and asked me if we could meet the next day.” Incidentally, the hostage situation took place three days later in the same compound where Jadhav was set to meet Rohit Arya.
Jadhav further wrote that she was visibly traumatised when she saw the news of the filmmaker. “I can't stop thinking about how close I came to being there. I feel incredibly grateful to God and my family," she added.

Why Did Rohit Arya Take Such A Drastic Step?
Rohit Arya, the slain mastermind behind the hostage drama at a Mumbai studio, was apparently driven to take the step to recover Rs 2 crore from a school project called “Swachhta Monitor,” which was long overdue, according to him. He had worked on the project for the school education department during the tenure of former Maharashtra Minister Deepak Kesarkar.
A resident of Pune, Arya had earlier tried to raise the issue several times to draw the attention of the authorities towards his pending dues, but without success, said sources. During the hostage drama on Thursday, he released a video message saying, "I am not a terrorist, nor am I seeking money. I wish to talk to some people."

Arya also explained that he had been pushed to suicide, but rather than ending his own life, he tried to reach out to the people through the "Hostage plan". The abductor claimed that he was forced to take the step to force certain individuals to speak to him, failing which he threatened to set the studio building and the hostages on fire, the police said.
In response to Rohit Arya's assertions, the Maharashtra school education department issued a statement on Thursday, directly addressing the dispute over his alleged unpaid dues. The department clarified that Arya had failed to provide the necessary documentation to support his claims.
The department noted that in August 2024, it had instructed Arya to deposit all funds collected from schools and students into a designated government account and submit a comprehensive, documented budget for further action. Since Arya did not comply with these requirements, the issue of the claimed dues remains unresolved.
