Mumbai Metro Update: The dream city of India, the city that’s all up and moving, is set to get another metro line, which will connect with all the other metro lines, providing a very smooth transport medium to residents living along any of the metro lines.

The upcoming metro line, estimated to be built at Rs 24,000 crore, will cater South Mumbai areas, dependent on overcrowded suburban trains and buses.

The proposed Metro line, spanning 17.5 kilometres, will connect Wadala’s Anik Bus Depot to SPM Circle near the Gateway of India. The stretch will provide feasible access to some of the city’s busiest commercial and heritage districts, alleviating traffic issues significantly, while improving the daily commute experience for lakhs of Mumbaikers.

Mumbai Metro Line 11: Here’s Why The Stretch Is Crucial

South Mumbai is the city's vibrant hub, housing key government offices, corporate headquarters, heritage landmarks, and popular tourist attractions. However, the area's connectivity remains inadequate, with the metro network notably absent. As a result, residents and visitors rely heavily on road transportation and the suburban rail system, which often gets congested.

Running through Sewri, Byculla, Nagpada, Bhendi Bazaar, Crawford Market, CSMT, Horniman Circle, and finally Colaba, the Mumbai metro line 11 aims to change the current situation with a direct metro to business centres and heritage zones in the area.

Metro Line 11 Connectivity: Now Hop Across Suburbs, Buses, And Metros

Metro Line 11 will seamlessly integrate with other transportation networks, providing commuters with efficient and convenient travel options across the city. Key interchanges include:
- Connection to Metro Line 4 (Green Line), linking Wadala to Thane and Kasarvadavli.
- Link to Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line), running through Bandra-Kurla Complex to SEEPZ.
- Potential connection to Line 3, creating a massive multi-modal transport hub.
- Integration with the Monorail at Wadala.
- Suburban Railway: Connectivity to the suburban railway at Byculla and CSMT.

This comprehensive network will enable smooth last-mile connectivity, allowing commuters to easily switch between the Metro, suburban rail, buses, and the Monorail. With Metro Line 11, travelling across the city will become more efficient and hassle-free.

The Mumbai Metro Line 11 will have 14 stations, with 13 of them to be built underground.
