Mumbai Metro Update: The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRCL) on Tuesday stated that the Mumbai's Metro Line 3 is near completion and is expected to begin services in the upcoming months. The 33.5-kilometers long metro line will connect southern parts of the city to the western areas. The MMRCL stated that the ambitious project will provide convenience to thousands of commuters between Cuffe Parade and Aarey by significantly cutting the travel time and reducing the traffic congestion. The first fully underground metro route of the city was launched in three phases; while the first two phases have been operational for the past few months, the third phase is expected to get the clearance soon.

While providing details, the MMRCL officials stated that the third phase is waiting for the clearance from the fire department before the inspection by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS). The authority stated that the operation for the commuters will begin just few weeks after receiving the approval from CMRS.

Key details about Metro Line 3:

- The total length of the metro line is 33.5 kilometers
- It will connect Cuffe Parade to Aarey, two of the key areas of the city
- The project is likely to decongest the local railway stations
- The daily commuters, including the employees will have another option
- It will reduce the dependence on the private vehicles, reducing traffic congestion
- MMRCL energised the line by activating the 25 kV traction line on July 23
- Metro line was expected to commence the operation in August
- The operation got delayed due to delay in the clearance and trial runs.

The MMRCL also stated that the operation of metro rails between the two key areas of the city will significantly boost the regional connectivity as the metro will pass through some of the key areas.
