Mumbai Rain: The residents of Mumbai witnessed heavy rainfall in the early hours of Saturday, leading to waterlogging in several key areas of the city. Amid continuous rainfall, two people died and at least two others got severely injured in a landslide in Vikhroli West. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday stated that several districts of Maharashtra, including Mumbai, are likely to receive light to heavy rainfall at least till August 20. While the rainfall is expected to provide relief from the scorching heat, it is also likely to lead to issues like waterlogging and power outages.
Mumbai Rain: City likely to witness rainfall till August 20
- Mumbai police stated that the rainfall is likely to lead to waterlogging in several key regions, leading to slow vehicular movement. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), it advised the residents to limit their unnecessary outings.

- “Mumbai is experiencing heavy rainfall with an Orange Alert in effect. Waterlogging and reduced visibility have been reported in several areas. Mumbaikars are advised to avoid non-essential travel and to exercise caution while venturing out. Police have been instructed to be on high alert, and Mumbai Police is alert and ready to help Mumbaikars. In case of any emergency, dial 100 / 112 / 103,” Mumbai police stated in its post.

- The weather department stated that several cities of Maharashtra, including Mumbai, Thane, Pune, and Palghar are expected to witness heavy rainfall till August 20. Apart from rainfall, these regions are also likely to witness thunderstorms and gusty winds. However, the intensity of the rain is expected to decrease after August 20, which will provide relief to the residents.
- "Widespread rainfall activity with Heavy to Very Heavy rainfall at a few places and Isolated Extremely Heavy Rainfall is very likely over Konkan and adjoining ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during the above period," the IMD stated.
