Mumbai Traffic Advisory: In view of the large-scale Eid-e-Milad procession scheduled on September 8, the Mumbai Police on Thursday issued an advisory announcing restrictions and diversions in several parts of the city. The traffic advisory states that a heavy crowd is expected to gather in Mankhurd and Ghatkopar areas, with hundreds of vehicles anticipated to take part in the procession.
Authorities have advised residents to follow the traffic plan and plan their outdoor activities accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
Traffic Restrictions In Mankhurd Area:
In anticipation of heavy traffic in the Mankhurd area, the authorities have imposed traffic restrictions from 2 PM to 10 PM on September 8.
- Heavy vehicles (except Eid-e-Milad procession vehicles and BEST buses) will not be allowed to go from Chheda Nagar Junction to Mankhurd T Junction.
- Light vehicles should take the flyover on the Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road.
- Parking of vehicles will be restricted on Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road (between Chheda Nagar and Mankhurd T Junction), Madhukar Kadam Marg, and P.L. Lokhande Marg.
Traffic Diversions:
- Vehicles heading towards Vashi from Chheda Nagar are advised to take the Eastern Express Highway via Umarshi Bappa Junction and V.N. Purav Marg.
- Vehicles going from Mankhurd T Junction to Vikhroli or Ghatkopar will have to take V.N. Purav Marg and Umarshi Bappa Junction.
Ghatkopar To Vikhroli Procession Route
A separate Eid-e-Milad procession is scheduled to begin at 1 PM from Jama Masjid, Chirag Nagar Lane, Ghatkopar (West) and will conclude at Anandgarh Junction in Parksite, Vikhroli (West).
“Around 25,000 participants and over 100 vehicles are expected to attend the processions,” the Mumbai traffic advisory read.
List Of Affected Roads:
- LBS Marg (from Chirag Nagar, Ghatkopar to Gulati Petrol Pump, Vikhroli)
- Premier Junction to Gandhi Nagar Junction (Powai): Entry of heavy vehicles, including private buses, ST buses, and BEST buses, will be restricted.
- However, emergency vehicles will be exempt from these restrictions.

Traffic Diversions:
- Heavy vehicles going from Kurla to Ghatkopar or Vikhroli will be allowed to go from Premier Junction back towards Kurla Depot via Santacruz-Chembur Link Road.
- Vehicular movement will be restricted at Kamani Junction. Instead, they will be rerouted via Naupada Junction.
- Vehicles going to South Mumbai from Powai (Gandhi Nagar Junction) will be diverted via JVRL and Vikhroli.
- Vehicles from Shreyas Junction and Savitribai Phule Junction will be diverted towards Eastern Express Highway and Pantnagar.
The traffic police have urged motorists to cooperate with the Mumbai Traffic Police to maintain order on September 8. In addition to this, traffic police will be deployed at key junctions to maintain smooth traffic flow.
