Mumbai Water Cut: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced a 24-hour water supply cut affecting parts of the city starting at 10 pm on May 27. The decision comes as the civic body undertakes critical infrastructure work to replace an ageing water main along Marve Road in the P/North ward.
In an official statement, the BMC has outlined the areas that will be impacted by the disruption, which includes parts of the P/North, R/South and R/Central wards. The water supply will be completely cut off for a period of 24 hours, from 10 pm on Monday, 27 May to 10 pm on Tuesday, 28 May 2024.
Mumbai Water Cut: Affected Areas
P/North - Ambojwadi: Usual water supply will be disrupted from11:30 pm to 12:35 am. No water supply on 27 May
P/North - Azmi Nagar: Usual water supply will be disrupted from 12:00 am to 01:30 am. No water supply on 28th May
P/North - Jankalyan Nagar: Usual water supply will be disrupted from 01:30 am to 03:00 am. No water supply on 28th May
P/North - Malvani: Usual water supply will be disrupted from 08:00 am to 11:50 am. No water supply on 28th May
P/North - Ali Talav Road, Inaswadi, Gavdevi Road, Rathodi Village, Malwani Village, Kharodi Village, Manori, Patelwadi, Shankarwadi, Marve Village, Madh Area, Manori Village will face water supply disruption from 04:20 pm to 10:00 pm. No water supply on 28th May
R/South - Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Sankul (Complex), New MHADA Layout: Usual water supply will be disrupted from 01:30 am to 03:00 am. No water supply on 28th May
R/Central - Gorai Village, Borivali: Usual water supply will be disrupted from 05:30 pm to 07:30 pm. No water supply on 28th May
The decision to carry out this work has been made to replace the existing 900 mm diameter water main along Marve Road in the Malad (West) area. The old and dilapidated water line will be replaced during the 24-hour period, as the work requires the isolation of the water mains, as per the Mid-day report.
According to the BMC, the replacement of the water main will help to eliminate water loss due to leakages, resulting in improved water pressure and overall distribution in the vicinity of Malad.
Mumbai Water Cut: The specific work to be carried out includes:
900 x 900 mm dia cross connection and discarding of the old 900 mm dia water main at Shinde Garage, Marve Road, Malad.
900 x 900 mm dia cross connection and discarding of the old 900 mm dia cross connection at the junction of Marve Road and Lagoon Road, Malad.
450 x 450 mm dia cross connection and discarding of the old 450 mm dia cross connection at the junction of Marve Road and Ali Talav Road, Malad.
900 x 900 mm dia cross connection and discarding of the old 900 mm dia water main near Blue Heaven Hotel, Marve Road, Malad, in the P/North ward.
The BMC has acknowledged the inconvenience caused to the residents and has appealed to them to use water carefully and judiciously during the 24-hour disruption period.
