The Pimpri Chinchwad Metro Expansion: The Maha Metro is planning to complete the detailed project report (DPR) for the proposed 42 km Nigdi-Mukai Chowk-Wakad-Nashik Phata-Chakan route by next month. The stretch will boost connectivity to Pune and connect key localities like Nigdi, Nashik Road, Bhosari, Moshi, Wakad Bypass and Ravet, Mukai Chowk, Pune-Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway, Pimple Saudagar, and Pimple Gurav.

Maha Metro Will Submit DPR To PCMC

Maha Metro took up the study of this new route last year, which has reached its final phase now. Once ready, Maha Metro will submit the DPR to the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) for further approvals. "The study included the alignment of the route, location of stations, land requirements and probable footfall on the proposed stretch. PCMC will provide its recommendations on the DPR, which will then be forwarded to state and central govts," an official said, as quoted by a Times Of India report.

This is the second Metro route to come up in the Pimpri Chinchwad area. Maha Metro has already commenced Metro services from Dapodi to PCMC and has started the construction of the PCMC-Nigdi elevated stretch — an extension of the Swargate-PCMC route.
