Pune Engineer Arrested For Masturbating At Woman On Nagpur-Bound Flight Month Before His Wedding

A 40-year-old man was arrested for allegedly masturbating and making vulgar gestures at a woman while travelling from Pune to Nagpur on a private airline. The woman who was travelling to perform the last rites of her father, was seated next to the 32-year-old man when the incident took place on Monday. 

The woman, a teacher, screamed and alerted the crew and ground staff. The accused, identified as Feroze Shaikh, an engineer from the Kondhwa area, tried to flee as the plane touched down in Nagpur. He was chased by CISF personnel and later handed over to the police.

According to the complaint, the woman had dozed off soon after takeoff and woke up to see him nudging and gesturing towards her in a vulgar manner. The woman was seated next to the man on the window seat, she tried to call the cabin crew but the plane had landed by then.

The accused rushed towards the rear exit and attempted to escape as soon as the gates opened. The accused was stopped by a CISF guard who had heard the woman’s scream. He was taken to the Sonegaon police station and booked for outraging the modesty of the woman.

The accused was reportedly engaged to get married next month. He was charged under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) including Section 354 (assaulting or using criminal force to any woman, intending to outrage her modesty), Section 354 (a) (sexual harassment) and Section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman).
