Mumbai- Nagpur Expressway Project: The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) on Saturday stated that the operation on the final stretch of the much-awaited Nagpur-Mumbai Super Communication Expressway is likely to begin soon. The authority stated that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will inaugurate the 76-km stretch of the 'Samruddhi Mahamarg' on June 5, leading to the vehicular movement on the route. The authority stated that the final stretch connects Igatpuri in Nashik to Amane in Thane, providing major relief to the residents of multiple regions by cutting the travel time significantly and reducing the traffic congestion.
Earlier on Saturday, Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) managing director Anil Gaikwad stated that the final stretch will be open for vehicular movement on the same day, reported the Hindustan Times. Gaikwad further stated that the construction work on the segment is fully complete and it will provide relief to the residents. He added that apart from cutting travel time between different cities, the expressway will also boost the financial sector of these regions.

The expressway was initiated under the vision of former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis. The first phase, linking Nagpur and Shirdi, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in December 2022. The second phase reached completion in May 2023, with the inauguration by former chief minister Eknath Shinde. The third phase, from Bharvir to Igatpuri, followed in March 2024.
In December 2022 and March 2023, the Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway was partially inaugurated. The last section of the project, the 76-kilometre length between Igatpuri and Amane, was supposed to be partially opened in November or December 2024, but the new state government's formation was delayed, according to MSRDC. The department has confirmed that the expressway will boost the regional connectivity, further adding that the authority is determined to improve the road connectivity in the state.
