Jyotisar, situated on the banks of the Jyotisar Sarovar wetland in Kurukshetra, Haryana, is a revered Hindu pilgrimage site. According to Hindu tradition, Lord Krishna delivered the sacred Bhagavad Gita to his friend Arjuna at this very spot. The Shrimad Bhagavad Gita guided Arjuna through his moral dilemma, revealing Krishna's universal form and imparting valuable lessons on karma and dharma.

The significance of Jyotisar has been validated by Adi Shankara, a prominent 8th-century Hindu scholar. Jyotisar, Kurukshetra, is a key stop on the Krishna Circuit, a revered pilgrimage trail that connects sacred sites including Vrindavan, Mathura, Dwarka, Govardhan, Barsana, and Bhalka. Jyotisar derives its name from the Sanskrit words 'Jyoti' meaning light or enlightenment, and 'Sar' meaning core. Thus, Jyotisar symbolises the essence of enlightenment or the ultimate reality of God.

According to the sacred Hindu legends, Lord Krishna delivered a profound sermon to Arjuna at Jyotisar under a sacred banyan tree. This sermon, known as the Bhagavad Gita, revealed timeless wisdom and spiritual insights. A descendant of the original banyan tree still stands at Jyotisar, serving as a poignant reminder of this pivotal event.

Jyotisar is also home to an ancient Shiva temple, where the Kauravas and Pandavas are said to have worshipped. Nearby, visitors can explore archaeological sites such as Abhimanyupur and Harsh Ka Tila, which offer a glimpse into the region's rich cultural heritage.
