Gita Jayanti 2023: The devotees of Lord Krishna place a great emphasis on the sacred city of Mathura as it is the birthplace of the divine Lord. Many marvellous temples dedicated to Lord Krishna are housed in the Mathura city. Among the various temples dedicated to Lord Krishna in Mathura, the Gita Mandir is home to the sculptures of the Bhagavad Gita, which was taught by the god during the Kurukshetra War to his devotee Arjuna, the Pandava Prince. 

In the 700-verse conversation known as the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna instructs Pandava prince Arjuna on what it means to be a Kshatriya on the battlefield during the Kurukshetra War. After being taught by Lord Krishna about the responsibilities of human beings, the Bhagavad Gita is now considered to be sacred literature and is highly venerated by Hindus worldwide. Gita Jayanti 2023: Interesting Facts About The Temple 

- The renowned business group Jugal Kishore Birla constructed the Gita Mandir in Mathura in remembrance of his parents. The temple's pillars bear the writing from all eighteen chapters of the Bhagavad Gita. 

- Gita Mandir is an amalgam of Hindu tradition, paintings, and culture with exquisite Western architecture. The temple is a testament to superb craftsmanship and is both spacious and spectacular in its red sandstone appearance. The gods of Rama, Sita, Lakshmi, Narayana, and Lord Krishna are all beautifully decorated. 

- The temple features the Gita royal house, Lord Krishna's chariot, and the complete Bhagavad Gita carved into the Gita pillar. In addition to the idols, its marbled walls feature several beautiful artworks of gods and goddesses.

- The temple is dressed out to the nines and lit up to resemble a star in the night sky during the Krishna Janmashtami festival. Gita Mandir also celebrates other festivals like Holi with tremendous fervour, drawing pilgrims from all across the nation to attend the elaborate pujas and holy rites held during this time.
