Diwali is just around the corner, and almost every Indian household has cleaned their spaces and decorated their home with lights to welcome Goddess Lakshmi.
According to Vastu Shastra, aligning your home with natural energies during the festival helps cosmic energy and prosperity enter without any obstacles.
Whether you live in a rented apartment or an independent home, by applying these five Vastu tips, you can invite wealth and prosperity into your home this Diwali.
1. Make Your Main Entrance Ready
In Vastu Shastra, the main entrance of the household holds immense significance as it is the area that through which energy enters the home.
On Diwali, ensure your entrance is brightly lit and decorated using a toran made of mango leaves or marigold flowers for positive energy flow. If your door faces North, East, or North-East, then it is best as you are naturally aligned for maximum Diwali energy.
You can even place a solid brass or copper Urli filled with clean water, fresh flower petals, and floating diyas to the right side of the main door. This neutralises the negative energy.
What To Avoid: Never place shoe racks, broken mirrors, or dirty rugs or carpets directly in front of the threshold during Diwali week.
2. Puja Room Direction
Lakshmi Puja is the heart of Diwali. So, the direction in which you set up the puja items and do worship controls mental peace and financial stability.
According to Vastu, the ideal location for the Diwali Puja shrine is the North-East corner (Ishan Kone) of the house. You should face north or east while praying to Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha.
Note: Lord Ganesha idol should be placed to the left of Goddess Lakshmi.

3. Diya Placement
Diwali is the festival of lights. According to Vastu, lighting diyas on this day is believed to balance the fire element within your floor plan.
A primary diya (first diya), Chowmukhi, made of clay should be lit first and placed in the South-East direction, as this area governs vitality and financial vitality.
Pure brass or silver diyas in the North-East and East zones and traditional mustard-oil or ghee earthen lamps on boundaries and windows.
Pro Tip: Light diyas in odd numbers like 11, 21, 31, or 108 to maintain equal distribution of energy.
4. Clear The North-East Zone
Before Dhanteras, deep cleaning isn't just about maintaining hygiene; it's a Vastu requirement.
The North-East zone symbolically represents the brain of the house. Storing broken electronics, heavy luggage, or furniture in this zone creates Vastu Dosh.
So, keep it clean and mop the floor with rock salt 3 days before Diwali. According to Vastu, rock salt absorbs negative energy.
5. Activate The North Direction For Money Flow
According to Vastu, the north direction is governed by Lord Kuber, making this zone responsible for physical wealth, income opportunities, and cash reserves.
So, keeping certain items in this direction will invite financial prosperity and abundance. To do this:
1. Place a small green indoor plant such as a Money Plant or Jade Plant. Green stimulates growth under Vastu principles.
2. Use light blue, cream, or light green curtains or place decor items in the northern rooms.
What To Avoid: Do not place any red or pink items in this area because red represents fire, as it disrupts the North's water element, leading to unexpected losses.
