Women's Hockey Asia Cup 2025: India launched their Women's Asia Cup hockey campaign with a resounding 11-0 victory over Thailand, led by Udita Duhan's pace and Beauty Dung Dung's clinical finishing to start the tournament with a scintillating performance.

Udita scored in the 30th and 52nd minutes from penalty corners, while Dung Dung struck in the 45th and 54th minutes.

India's other goal-scorers were Mumtaz Khan (7th minute), Sangita Kumari (10th), Navneet Kaur (16th), Lalremsiami (18th), Thoudam Suman Devi (49th), Sharmila Devi (57th) and Rutaja Dadaso Pisal (60th).

India, currently ranked ninth in the world, led 5-0 at halftime in the Pool B match against the 30th-ranked Thais. India's strategic approach to capitalise on penalty corners tipped the scales in Salima Tete's side's favour as they converted over half of the opportunities they created.

India's early goals gave them a strong foundation, with Mumtaz and Sangita scoring two field goals in the first quarter. India rode on their first-quarter success, adding three more goals to their tally.

Salima Tete's team continued the momentum with experienced forward Navneet and midfielder Lalremsiami scoring successive field goals, followed by a penalty corner conversion from Udita just before the halftime break.

India bagged four penalty corners in the third quarter, and Dung Dung converted one PC in the 45th minute. In the final quarter, the side pumped in five more goals to seal a big victory. Mumtaz, Udita and Sharmila scored through penalty corners while Dung Dung and Rutuja struck field goals.

The Indian women's hockey team will now take on Japan on Saturday, followed by the final pool match against Singapore on September 8.
