India witnessed a remarkable success on the eighth day of the ongoing Asian Games 2023, winning fifteen medals on Sunday, October 1. With the exceptional display, India registered a historic feat with the best-ever day in the history of the continental meet in terms of medals.
With 53 medals in the tally, India stand in the fourth position, only behind China, the Republic of Korea, and Japan.
Aditi Ashok opened India's account on Sunday as she clinched the silver medal in the individual women's golf event. She became the first-ever Indian women golfer to win a medal at the Asian Games.

Kynan Chenai, Zoravar Singh Sandhu, and Prithviraj Toindaman won the gold medal for India in the men’s trap team event with an Asian Games record of 361. The women’s trap team of Manisha Keer, Preeti Rajak, and Rajeshwari Kumari won silver with a combined score of 337.
Kynan Chenai won bronze in the Trap Men's final individual event.
Nikhat Zareen finished her campaign in the women’s 50kg event with a bronze medal as she lost her semi-final bout against Thailand’s Chuthamat Raksat by a 3:2 split decision.
Avinash Sable won the gold medal in men’s 3000m steeplechase with a timing of 8:19:50s, breaking the Games record along the way.
Tajinderpal Singh Toor won gold in men’s shot put with a massive 20.36m throw in his sixth attempt.
Murali Sreeshankar won a silver medal in the men's long jump while Nandini Agasara clinched the bronze medal in the women's heptathlon event. Seema Punia went on to bag the bronze medal in the women's discus throw and Ajay Kumar Saroj and Jinson Johnson claimed the silver and bronze medals respectively in the men's 1500m event.
On the other hand, Harmilan Bains clinched the silver medal in the women's 1500m event.
Jyothi Yarraji won silver in the women’s 100m hurdles after the controversial disqualification drama.

The men's Badminton team won the first medal for India in the event since 1976 in the Asian Games as the side featuring the likes of Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth, Chirag Shetty, and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy among others won a Silver after losing the final against China.
