India completed a sensational gold-medal hat-trick in compound archery at the Asian Games 2026 as Sahil Jadhav, Thirumuru Ganesh Mani Ratnam and Kushal Dalal defeated China 238-237 in the men’s team final on Wednesday.

The Indian trio produced a stunning comeback after a nervy start, shooting 180 out of 180 from the second end onwards to edge China by a single point and complete a memorable clean sweep of the three compound archery gold medals on the day.

India Hold Nerve In Thrilling Final

India began the final with two 9s, allowing China to establish early pressure by finding the 10-ring consistently.

However, the Indian trio responded brilliantly from the second end onwards. They did not miss a single arrow thereafter, scoring a perfect 180 out of 180 to keep themselves in control of the contest.

China remained within touching distance throughout, but an 8 in the fourth end proved costly for the defending champions.

Perfect Finish From Indian Trio

China entered the final end knowing they needed a perfect finish to put maximum pressure on India. They delivered three consecutive 10s, setting up a tense finish.

India, though, refused to buckle under the pressure.

Sahil Jadhav stepped up first and fired a 10. Ganesh followed with another 10 before Kushal Dalal completed the job with yet another 10.

China's final shot, initially judged as an 8, was then sent for review. An upgrade to a 9 would have levelled the scores, but the original decision stood, handing India a thrilling 238-237 victory.

Sahil Jadhav Shines Again

Sahil was one of India's standout performers in the final, producing a perfect record of 10s with all eight of his arrows.

The victory also gave him his second gold medal of the Asian Games. He had earlier partnered Chikitha Taniparthi to victory in the compound mixed team event.

Ganesh and Kushal also showed tremendous composure after India's two opening 9s, responding to China's relentless start with a flawless run of 10s.

India Complete Archery Gold Hat-Trick

The men's team triumph completed a remarkable day for Indian archery. India had earlier won gold in the women's compound team event before Sahil and Chikitha secured the mixed team title.

The men's team then followed suit to give India three gold medals from three compound archery events.

The victory also continued India's strong record in compound archery after the country won the men's, women's and mixed team titles at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
