Australian Open 2025: India's doubles pair of N. Sriram Balaji and his partner Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela have been knocked out after losing the second round of the ongoing Grand Slam on Saturday. Balaji and Reyes-Varela did put up a fight against Nuno Borges and Francisco Cabral but lost the three-set match by 6-7, 6-4, 3-6.
Balaji was India's lone warrior in India's men's doubles category as players like Rohan Bopanna, Ritvik Bollapalli and Anirudh Chandrasekar bowed out after the first round. It was an evenly-fought match between both the players from the beginning as there were nervy moments after conceding breakpoints and the score was 6-6 during the first set, which forced the game to the tie-breaker.
Although Balaji and Reyes-Varela did win the first point during the tie-breaker, Borges and Cabral won the match dominatingly by 6-1 and took the first set.

Balaji and Reyes-Varela mount a comeback
The Indo-Mexican pair wasn't disappointed after losing the first set tiebreaker and also began the second set by dominating the Portuguese pair. They were leading by 2-0, where Reyes-Varela served Borges-Cabral and used their own service game brilliantly and reduced the deficit.
The tenth game of the second set witnessed Balaji and Reyes-Varela leading by 40-0 and had three set points under their kitty. Although did save one point, the Indo-Mexican pair took the set to the tie-breaker since the game was leveled at 1-1.
The third and the last set witnessed both the pairs win their serves as the match headed towards Game 4. With the help of Reyes-Varela's serve, Borges-Cabral gave the Indo-Mexican pair a hard time and was leading by 3-1 and never backed down after that.
Balaji and Reyes-Varela did put up a fight but eventually lost the match, which went on for about 2 hours and 9 minutes.
