Bharti Airtel has covertly slashed down the bundled data benefits on its Unlimited (UL) 5G add-on packs. These passes were launched in July 2024 to enable users on lower daily data plans to switch to Unlimited 5G without losing their base plan. Unlimited 5G perks are still there, but the extra high-speed data that comes with these boosters has been greatly diminished. The revision is applicable to all three UL 5G add-on packs that cost Rs 51, Rs 101 and Rs 151. Here is a simplified breakdown of what changed and who is eligible and how the new benefits will affect Airtel customers.

Airtel UL 5G Add-On Packs: Eligibility and Pricing

Right now Airtel offers unlimited 5G data to all the subscribers on plans starting from 2GB per day. Customers on the 1GB per day and 1.5GB per day plans don’t get Unlimited 5G by default but can choose to upgrade via UL 5G add-on packs.

The available add-on packs are priced at:

- Rs 51

- Rs 101

- Rs 151

These packs activate unlimited 5G data until the end of the validity of the current base plan being used, if in 5G coverage.

Post the free usage, users will be charged 50 paise per MB. These packs are visible and are applicable only if the user is on a valid base pack.

Unlimited 5G Data Benefit Explained

Unlimited 5G doesn’t change even if the bundled data amount drops. With any of the UL 5G add-ons, customers on plans with 1GB or 1.5GB per day can access Unlimited 5G under Airtel’s Fair Usage Policy.

Key points to note:

- Unlimited 5G is subject to a 300GB FUP limit for 30 days

- The benefit applies only in 5G network areas

- All data usage, including base plan data, can be consumed on the 5G network

Since 5G speeds are significantly faster, data usage tends to increase quickly when connected to a 5G network.

Airtel slashing the bundled data on its Unlimited 5G add-on packs makes these boosters less alluring than they were at launch, more so to someone who is dependent on the extra high-speed data.
