Cupertino-based tech giant Apple has launched the HomePod mini in a new midnight colour in India. According to Apple, it gets a 100 per cent recycled mesh fabric and is 3.3-inch tall. The new shade joins the yellow, orange, blue, and white colours and will be available from Wednesday. The smart speaker offers a backlit touch surface, which illuminates when the speaker is on.
In its press note, Apple highlighted users can listen to 100 million songs from Apple Music on the speaker. HomePod mini users can question Siri and gain knowledge about a range of music, search by song, artist, lyrics, genre and more categories. Plus, the speaker can manage daily tasks and control the smart home with the help of the voice assistant. It can also be paired with Apple TV 4K.

"Users can create smart home automations, get notified when a smoke or carbon monoxide alarm is detected in their home, check temperature and humidity in a room, and use Intercom to send an announcement throughout the house — all hands-free," Apple said. The HomePod mini offers 360-degree audio and stereo pair (to link two HomePod mini) for an immersive sound experience. the speaker gets a full-range driver and dual radiators.

You can also pair it with your iPhone to enjoy the music experience. It gets a four-mic design for far-field Siri operations. Using the touch controls on the device, users can play/pause/skip tracks, summon Siri or manage volume. It offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 and an Ultra Wideband chip. Buyers of the HomePod mini can avail three months of Apple Music subscription for free, subject to the brand's terms and conditions.

HomePod mini's new shade will be available for Rs 10,900. Buyers can order the new midnight colour from apple.com. Apple said it will be up for grabs at Apple Stores in the US, Canada, China mainland, Singapore and 28 other regions from July 17 (Wednesday).
