Apple iPhone 16 series has grabbed eyeballs with the camera controls and action button. But now early leaks are suggesting that Apple iPhone 17 could come with a new button that will replace the volume buttons and the action button. It is already evident that the smartphone makers are moving back to physical buttons and if true, Apple would have yet another thing to brag about.

According to tipster Mahin Bu, Apple will be replacing the volume rockers and the Action button with a new button which technically has the power and tech to do the work of both. If introduced, it will be the next big innovation by the brand after the Capture button which allows users to access multiple controls using the capacitive nature.

The tipster did not, however, provide many details regarding the new button. It will be presumed to "act as a sort of control for volume, ringtone, and other functions that are currently customisable with the capture button," according to the tipster.

It is still uncertain whether Apple will be unveiling this button at its iPhone 17 launch in September 2025, the report suggests that the California-based technology giant has tested the prototypes with such buttons in the past with an aim to eliminate the volume buttons. Do note that the device’s features and hardware are yet to be confirmed.

Speaking of the other leaks, the iPhone 17 could get the new Slim model dubbed as iPhone 17 Air. The iPhone 17 series could come with a 2nm chip, a massive enhancement compared to the predecessor. It will offer better performance and power efficiency, specifically for AI features.

Additionally, the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air could come with a standard 120Hz refresh rate, eliminating the 60Hz refresh rate panels.
