Gurman, in his newsletter, Power On, shares that the Cupertino-based tech giant is "already working" on follow-ups for the AR/VR headset (the 1st generation device will likely mark a global appearance today at WWDC). The new headset models that may launch later include a Pro and a lower-spec version.
On the expected lines, the downscaled version will likely have a lower price tag when compared with other headset models.
WWDC 2023: Reality Pro Headset Issues
The Apple tipster also highlights that future versions may fix problems that the 1st generation MR headset could bring along. Reality Pro may have "nausea complaints" and inconsistent performance. The later models could also bring in cellular connectivity. Further, in a recent report, Gurman goes on and brings to the fore the problem of overheating on the headset flagged by some testers.
Moving on, on a positive note, Gurman writes that the Reality Pro headset holds the "potential to usher in a new era." But on the same page, he says, "It's also a risky endeavour that could backfire for Apple."
Meanwhile, the company will likely showcase the first-generation Mixed Reality headsettoday at WWDC 2023. The headset could come with the name - Reality Pro, Reality One or XR Pro, hints the registered trademarks. It may run on xrOS and have an M2 chip for performance. Further, the gadget is tipped to have 16GB RAM. The flagship product have a starting price of $3,000 (Rs 2.48 lakh after currency conversion). While we may have the first glimpse of the headset today, the release date will follow later.
