CES 2024: The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is a high-profile tech event allowing technology firms to showcase their upcoming innovations and products to which they choose to divert resources and brain power for something innovative or unique in the future. This year's tech show will begin on January 9 in Las Vegas and conclude on January 12.
Like previous years, the event will be loaded with tech presentations from top companies such as Samsung, Sony, Nvidia, LG and others. From LG AI-powered home agent to AI-based enhancements in personal computers, here are the items to expect this year.
Smartphones: The CES will mostly be silent in terms of smartphone-based enhancements. While top smartphone launches are stacked up this month, these will likely materialise after the event or Mobile World Congress (MWC) next month. However, Asus is gearing up to announce its gaming-focused ROG Phone 8 series. Some concept phones and upcoming technologies could reach CES.
AI PCs: With Intel announcing its Meteor Lake chips, laptop makers will likely announce a range of innovations powered by this chip. We can expect to see evolution in design (maybe foldable and dual screens) and bigger display models. Thanks to the rise of dedicated neural processing units, laptop makers like Dell, HP, Lenovo and more will likely display the potential of AI for computing.

Gaming Devices: As per The Verge, Nvidia could announce its RTX 40-series Super GPUs. OLED monitors (with a pinpoint focus towards gaming) may also see the light of day at the event. Taiwanese MSI has confirmed that a gaming-focused device (reportedly 'MSI Claw') that may take on Valve's Steam Deck, Asus ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go will be presented at the event.
AI-Charged TVs: Considering OLED has reached new heights in recent years and the unprecedented rise of AI last year, we can expect a range of software-based enhancements for a visual treat this year. According to the report, LG, Samsung, and Roku are among the top companies that may announce their technologies.
Smart Home AI Appliances: Samsung is all set to host its "AI for All: Connectivity in the Age of AI" conference, where we might see daily home appliances (likely refrigerators, cooktops and air conditioners) charged with AI. LG will showcase its awaited "AI Agent" at the event. Other smart home companies gearing up for the show are Matter, Whirlpool, Ecovacs and more.
Other announcements in the tech sector may simmer around mixed reality (possibly a Vision Pro competitor), Wi-Fi 7, generative AI user cases in cars, Clicks' Blackberry-style iPhone case and other offbeat and unexpected gadgets.
