Popular social media application Facebook has announced 'multiple personal profiles' options for users on the app. It will help users bifurcate the in-app feed and overall experience of an account. For instance, users can have a separate profile for professional affairs and a second for personal stuff. Plus, this will ensure the shared content and the post visibility is different for each profile.

According to Meta, based on user feedback, the new feature ensures "clearer organisation" and engagement with the relevant people. The update follows in the footsteps of Instagram's interest-based accounts. This option will roll out for users globally from today and arrive in the coming months for all users.

How To Setup Multiple Personal Profiles?

After choosing the name and the username, users on the platform can add up to four profiles. Users can then connect with people or communities that will help personalise the feed for every profile with separate content.
Users can switch profiles from the menu without any login process.

Initially, features such as "Dating, Marketplace, Professional Mode and payments" will not be present in new profiles, according to Meta. However, Messaging will be available in the Facebook app and the web interface for profiles. Messenger support will likely be available for users in the "coming months". Plus, this option will be available to only "eligible adult accounts."

The settings for these profiles will be set to default preferences. Changes made to privacy and notification settings in one profile will not reflect on others. Moreover, a few settings will be "managed separately," such as the option to manage who can see posts on a profile and who is eligible to send friend requests to profiles.

The original FB profile will not display that a user has multiple profiles on the platform. Users can choose any name for their profiles. But the main profile shall be named in consonance with a user's original name.
