FASTag: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has rolled out a new policy to make toll payments more seamless for private vehicle owners across India. Starting August 15, 2025, a FASTag-based Annual Pass will be available for cars, jeeps, and vans.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari confirmed the move on X, stating, “This policy addresses long-standing concerns regarding toll plazas located within a 60 km range and simplifies toll payments through a single, affordable transaction. By reducing wait times, easing congestion, and minimising disputes at toll plazas, the Annual Pass aims to deliver a faster and smoother travel experience for millions of private vehicle owners.”

Here’s What the New FASTag Annual Pass Offers:

The pass is priced at ₹3,000 and is valid for either 200 trips or one full year from the date of activation — whichever comes first. This offering is aimed exclusively at non-commercial users. That means it won’t be available for public transport vehicles or commercial fleets.

How to Apply for the Annual Pass:

To activate or renew the Annual Pass, users will need to use the Rajmarg Yatra mobile app or visit the official websites of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) or MoRTH. A dedicated link for activation will go live closer to the rollout date. A detailed step-by-step guide and list of required documents will be released soon to make the process hassle-free.

What Happens When the Pass Expires?

Once the Annual Pass hits the 200-trip limit or crosses the one-year mark, it will expire. After that, users can either go back to the standard FASTag recharge system or simply renew the Annual Pass by repeating the application process via the Rajmarg Yatra app.
