Flipkart, a popular Indian e-commerce giant, has introduced an innovative solution for customers to exchange non-functional smartphones and other appliances. In a departure from the previous practice of allowing exchanges only for functional devices based on their condition, Flipkart now enables users to exchange products that are no longer operational, says a report.
Customers will benefit from improved convenience and flexibility with this new solution, which will allow them to easily replace non-functional devices while eliminating bother and increasing value.
What Is Flipkart Non-Functional Exchange Program
According to the report, the company would begin taking non-working items, such as smartphones, feature phones, and appliances. Rather than the usual practice of allowing customers to exchange their old gadgets for new ones and determining the worth depending on the limit that has been set, the company is now going to assist users in disposing of their malfunctioning appliances. The brand's goal with this initiative is to decrease e-waste and is now collaborating with authorised vendors to dispose of old equipment, restore them to better condition, or even recycle them.
Not only that, but the newly introduced exchange program also offers the users to avail great buyback offers along with a doorstep pick-up of the non-functional device.

The company would also wipe all client data from devices including smartphones, laptops, and more as part of the new exchange program in order to protect user privacy and security, says a report.

According to Ashutosh Singh Chandel, senior director, and business head, Re-Commerce at Flipkart, "India is the third largest e-waste generator in the world (with 3.2 million tonnes in 2019); however, only 10% of the waste is collected for recycling, according to MEITY policy paper (source), necessitating the sector's shift to a more circular approach. We wish to present our consumers with an innovative, ecological, and convenient alternative to discard old electrical and large appliances and upgrade to a product they want with the new exchange program for non-functional products.
