Google CEO Sundar Pichai on Wednesday announced several collaborations and talked about how artificial intelligence is reshaping education, science, and entrepreneurship in India. From a large-scale business to AI-powered classrooms, Sundar Pichai shed light on Google’s long-term partnership with India. His remarks focused on expanding access to AI, accelerating scientific discovery, and enabling India’s young talent to build globally significant companies from home.

Expanding AI Access Through National Partnerships

Pichai announced that Google’s efforts are part of the Global National Partnerships Program, stating that it “will broaden access to frontier AI capabilities for national development,” adding that “Demis will share more later on.”

He also revealed a major public-sector initiative where Google Cloud “will provide a secure infrastructure for a platform supporting more than 20 million public servants across 800 districts and in 18 Indian languages.”

AI in Education and Classrooms

Highlighting education, Pichai said, “We’re also partnering with the Atala Tinkering Labs to bring Gen-AI assistance to over 10,000 Indian schools and 11 million students with a focus on robotics and coding in the classroom.”

Accelerating Science With AI

On scientific impact, he noted, “AI is fundamentally shifting the pace of discovery,” pointing to advances “from advancing quantum computing to predicting extreme weather.” Google also announced “a new 30 million dollar goal for the AI for Science Impact Challenge to support researchers globally using AI.”

India’s Talent and Entrepreneurial Ecosystem

Addressing whether future AI leaders will stay in India, Pichai said, “I think it’s already changed.” He cited companies like Flipkart and OYO, adding, “The entrepreneurship ecosystem here is thriving.”

Pichai expressed confidence in India’s trajectory, saying, “I just don’t see any impediments to that. And I think India is very, very well positioned.” His remarks reinforced Google’s belief that AI will deeply enhance daily life while enabling India to lead the next wave of global AI innovation.
