GOOGLE I/O 2023 Updates: The search giant announced in the I/O event that Google Bard will be open to all without a waitlist. Users can now access the AI tool across 180+ countries and territories in English. The model now runs on a more capable PaLM 2 model and has improved at maths, coding, reasoning and more.
Additionally, Bard will soon be available in over 40 languages. Moreover, Bard would also work with Google Lens. It can deliver captions based on prompts entered into the AI models.

Bard has learned 20 programming languages including Google Sheets functions. The waitlist removal is a big step considering Microsoft's AI-powered Bing (a result of the tech giant's heavy funds infusion in OpenAI) was made available in Open Preview to the public recently.
"PaLM 2 builds on our fundamental research and our latest infrastructure. It is highly capable of a wide range of tasks and easy to deploy. We're announcing over 25 products and features powered by PaLM 2 today," Pichai noted in the announcement.
With PaLM 2, Google Bard can now code better than ever. It can help users to debug, frame and explain codes with enhancements from the upgraded training model. Further, cross-platform transfer of codes would be facilitated by the share button. Later in the announcement, it was announced that Bard would be available in dark mode from now.
Other models highlighted in the event include:
Sec-PaLM - AI to detect malicious scripts for security experts.
Med-PaLM 2 - fine-tuned for medical knowledge for the health sector. It was also the first language model to reach expert-level performance in medical licensing exam-style questions. It is available in preview.
As if this was not the end, the Google chief added Gemini - the next-gen multi-modal foundation model was in training.
