Google is pushing AI Mode into new territory by turning it into a full-fledged travel planning companion. Instead of switching back and forth between tabs for flights, hotels, maps, and recommendations when planning your trip, this new update enables you to do it all from one convenient place - Canvas in AI Mode has seen significant upgrades that help organise ideas and projects more easily than before. Now, Canvas can build personalised travel plans using real-time Search data, Maps insights, photos, reviews and live hotel prices. All you need to do is tell AI Mode what kind of trip you want, what matters to you, and hit “Create Canvas.” From there, Google’s AI handles the heavy lifting and shapes a plan that fits your budget, interests and schedule.

AI Mode’s Canvas Now Builds Custom Travel Plans

What this really means is that travel planning becomes conversational. You can describe your ideal trip — budget-friendly stay, great cafes, hiking spots, or quick weekend getaway — and AI Mode instantly generates a detailed plan in a side panel. It pulls live hotel prices, flight suggestions, location photos, reviews and estimated travel times straight from Google Maps and Search.

Your AI Mode itinerary instantly adapts itself based on cost, amenities and any special requests made of you, including hotel comparisons by cost and amenities as well as recommendations for restaurants and activities based on where you will be staying. Should something not fit, follow-up prompts allow for further refinements; perhaps brunch spots or museums would better meet your travel preferences? AI Mode can reshape it instantly!

For now, travel planning in Canvas is limited to desktop users in the US enrolled in the AI Mode experiment through Google Labs.

Google Expands Flight Deals to 200+ Countries

Alongside the Canvas upgrade, Google is expanding its AI-powered Flight Deals to more than 200 countries and over 60 languages. The feature helps bargain hunters track flexible travel options, flagging routes and dates where prices drop significantly. It first launched in the US, Canada and India, and is now available globally.

Smarter Restaurant Booking With AI Agents

Google is also rolling out agentic restaurant booking with AI Mode in the US, making it easier to arrange family dinners, holiday gatherings or date nights without switching between apps. A virtual agent will handle reservations, suggest venues and update plans as necessary.

Final Thoughts

Google’s latest AI Mode update turns the travel planning process into a smooth, conversational experience. With Canvas building intelligent itineraries, Flight Deals expanding worldwide and AI-powered booking tools rolling out in the US, Google is positioning AI Mode as a one-stop hub for organising trips. As these features continue to scale, travellers can expect faster planning, smarter suggestions and far fewer browser tabs.
