Google Workspace apps are preferred across the globe because of their vast feature set and ease of usability. And to further grow the audience, the tech giant regularly upgrades them to improve user experience. This week, the tech giant introduced an option to disable submission in Google Classroom, in-line reply in Google Chat and more features in its work suite apps. Here are among the notable ones announced this week.
Google Chat: In-line replies
After announcing spaces for organisational announcements for one-way communication, the company has now introduced an in-line reply feature to let members react to announcements. This feature will be enabled by default for all members in new spaces. In existing spaces, a space manager can enable this from space settings > permissions > Reply to messages. This update will be available to all Workspace users.
Google Meet: Audio in screen share on iOS
In its workspace updates post, Google said mobile users of Google Meet can share audio while sharing their screens in a video chat. A user can share a video with music or sound with the presentation. This functionality will be available on iOS devices and reach Android users in August 2023.
Google Classroom: Disable submission
As the name suggests, this feature will allow teachers to lock submissions once the due date has passed to restrict late entries from students. An educator can choose to opt for this feature while creating an assignment. By default, the option will remain turned off and accept submissions after the deadline. This option will also let teachers pause assignment submission at any time, regardless of the due date.
It will be available to all Workspace and personal accounts. The feature is gradually rolling out, and feature visibility may take up to 15 days.
Google Docs: Line Numbers
Google is rolling out display line numbers in paged mode in Docs. These digits are displayed next to each line on a page. It can be configured for the entire document, a page or one section. These are preserved at the time of printing. The function will be available to all Workspace users and personal accounts.
