Rockstar Games has formally announced that its next instalment of the decades-long running Grand Theft Auto franchise will release on May 26, 2026. It will launch on PlayStation 5, PS5 Pro, PS5 Slim, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, with a PC version being released later, although there has been no word on when that will happen.
It has been over a decade since GTA V originally came out, and the hype for GTA 6 has been growing steadily. Although Rockstar has left most things unrevealed, enough information—both officially confirmed and teased—paints a better picture of what gamers can look forward to. From its Vice City environment to its dual protagonists, bigger world, and satirical spin on contemporary culture, GTA 6 is turning out to be one of the studio's most ambitious titles to date.

In this article, we’ll go over everything confirmed so far — the storyline, locations, characters, and even what’s being speculated about pricing.
A Closer Look at GTA 6’s Setting and Story
GTA 6’s story will follow a crime-driven narrative inspired by the infamous Bonnie-and-Clyde dynamic. For the first time, players will control two main characters: Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Lucia marks a milestone for the franchise as the first non-optional female lead.
The action takes place in a reimagined Vice City — Rockstar’s Miami-inspired playground — within the fictional state of Leonida (a take on Florida). The map may also stretch to new locations: Leonida Keys, Grasslands, Port Gelhorn, Ambrosia, Mount Kalaga, and possibly even a glimpse of Liberty City, teased in early trailers and leaks.
Speculation suggests GTA 6 could be the series’ longest main story yet, with playtime reaching up to 75 hours. The game is also expected to lampoon American culture of the 2020s, from internet trends to influencer lifestyles.
Meet the Main Characters
Jason Duval
Jason’s backstory is steeped in crime and chaos. Raised in tough surroundings and serving time in the army, Jason now works with drug runners in the Leonida Keys, searching for something more.
Lucia Caminos
Lucia’s loyalty to her family landed her in prison, but fortune has put her back on the streets. Trained to fight from childhood, she’s fiercely determined to create a better life for herself and her mother.
Cal Hampton
A friend of Jason, Cal prefers the safety of home, beer in hand, and spends his time monitoring Coast Guard communications.
Boobie Ike
Vice City’s own legend, Boobie, shifted his life from the street to building a legit empire with interests in real estate and strip clubs.
Dre’quan Priest
A hustler at heart, Dre’quan is grinding on the streets and fighting for success in the music scene after landing a record deal.
Real Dimez (Bae-Luxe & Roxy)
Close friends and social media stars, this duo made waves with a viral rap track and now hope to reignite their music careers with Only Raw Records.
Raul Bautista
Raul is a bank robber with an eye for daring partners willing to risk it all.
Brian Header
A drug runner based in the Keys, Brian is expected to play a central role in missions involving Jason.
What About the Price?
Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, hasn’t provided official pricing. CEO Strauss Zelnick claims the company aims to deliver “more value than we charge”, but there’s no confirmed figure yet.
Industry analysts predict a starting price near $80 for the standard edition, and some even suggest it could be as high as $100. In India, leaks hint at a price tag of ₹5,999, though these rumours remain unverified at this stage.
