After quietly teasing the device over the past few days, HMD has now officially confirmed that the HMD Vibe 2 5G will launch in India on May 21. The upcoming smartphone appears to be aimed at users looking for a stylish budget 5G phone, but interestingly, it is the design that is grabbing attention even before the full specifications are out.
The company has revealed that the HMD Vibe 2 5G will arrive in Cosmic Lavender, Nordic Blue, and Peach Pink colour options. It will be sold through Flipkart after launch.
One of the biggest highlights of the phone is its rear camera setup. HMD has confirmed a dual-camera system led by a 50-megapixel AI camera. While details about the secondary sensor are still under wraps, the camera module itself has already started drawing comparisons with Apple’s latest iPhone-style design language. The rectangular camera island on the back closely resembles the camera layout seen on the expected iPhone 17 Pro lineup leaks.
The phone also gets a noticeable battery upgrade this time. HMD says the Vibe 2 5G will pack a 6,000mAh battery with support for 18W wired charging, which is larger than the battery offered on its predecessor. For users who prioritise long screen time, streaming, and casual gaming, this could end up being one of the phone’s biggest selling points.
In terms of design, the handset features a flat-frame build with a centred HMD logo at the back and a dual-tone rear panel. The power button and volume keys are placed on the right edge, while the SIM tray sits on the left side. The company has also confirmed the presence of a USB Type-C port, speaker grille, secondary microphone, and a 3.5mm headphone jack at the bottom, something that is slowly disappearing from many smartphones.
Earlier teasers also revealed that the HMD Vibe 2 5G will sport a flat display with a centred hole-punch cutout for selfies and video calls. However, HMD is still keeping key details like the processor, pricing, display specifications, and RAM configurations under wraps for now. Those details are expected to surface closer to launch.
