As we celebrate Heart Month, Apple Watch offers a variety of features to help you keep your heart healthy. Whether it's tracking your activity, sleep, mindfulness, or offering built-in tools like irregular rhythm notifications and ECG apps, Apple Watch is designed to assist in making a real difference to your heart health.

Heart Health Notifications on Apple Watch

To get started, enable Heart Health Notifications on your Apple Watch. You’ll receive alerts from the Heart Rate app if your heart rate goes too high or low or if an irregular rhythm is detected. If your heart rate stays above or below a set beats per minute threshold, your Apple Watch will notify you. Additionally, Apple Watch's irregular rhythm notification checks for irregularities like atrial fibrillation, alerting you to potential issues so you can take immediate action. If you’re experiencing any symptoms, you can quickly take an ECG, anytime, anywhere.

How Apple Watch Helps You Sleep Better

Sleep plays a critical role in overall health, with the Mayo Clinic recommending at least 7 hours of sleep per night. The Apple Watch’s Sleep app helps you create and stick to a sleep schedule. With the Wind Down feature, Apple Watch encourages you to reduce distractions and prepare for restful sleep. When you wear the watch to bed, it tracks your sleep stages—REM, Core, and Deep—allowing you to see how long you spent in each phase and when you woke up. Plus, the new Sleep Apnea Notification can alert you to consistent signs of sleep apnea, a condition that, if untreated, can contribute to heart disease.

Track Your Activity for a Healthy Heart

Staying active is vital for heart health, and Apple Watch can help. The Activity app tracks your movement, exercise, and standing patterns throughout the day. Apple Watch encourages you to move more with gentle reminders and friendly competitions. You’ll see three rings representing your standing, moving, and exercise goals, with the goal being to complete each ring daily.

Mindfulness to Manage Stress and Protect Your Heart

Stress is a known contributor to heart diseases, according to Harvard research. Apple Watch’s Mindfulness app provides an easy way to reduce stress through daily meditation and breathing exercises. You can set aside time each day to focus, breathe, and reset. After completing a Reflect or Breathe session, you can check your heart rate on the summary screen to see how your body responded. You can even set reminders to ensure consistency in your mindfulness routine.

Celebrate Heart Month with a Special Apple Watch Award

To make Heart Month extra special, Apple Watch users have the chance to earn a limited-edition award. Simply close your Exercise ring on February 14th, Valentine’s Day, and show some love to your heart with a fun, unique achievement.

Apple Watch is more than just a wearable—it's a powerful tool to help you prioritize your heart health this month and beyond.
