Reels Download: Meta-owned photo-sharing app Instagram announced the ability to download Reels in the United States earlier this year. Recently, Instagram Head Adam Mosseri informed users that the feature to download Reels uploaded by public accounts is now rolling out across the globe. In the previous scheme, users could only save these Reels to view them later and not download them for sharing across other social media platforms.
The Instagram boss shared the update on his broadcast channel that these Reels will have an Instagram label and an account name, similar to TikTok. The download button will allow users to save the Reels in their Camera Roll. While users will have the option to download Reels, a setting to restrict the feature will also be present for the creators.

Step 2: Find the 'Privacy' section and then locate the 'Reels and Remix'

If a creator enables this toggle, here are the steps to download Reels uploaded by them.

Reels Download Online On Instagram: How to Save Reels To Gallery?
Step 1: Open a Reel of a public account which you wish to download
Step 2: Now tap the 'Share' button
Step 3: A 'Download' will appear through which you can download the Reel
According to TechCrunch, if a user downloads a Reel with licensed sound, the video will be devoid of audio. Reels with the original sound will have audio output. Moreover, creators can download their Reels without any watermark and share them with Stories or Insta DMs.
The feature will likely limit the use cases to send links for users to share Reels. In the case of public reels with download settings enabled, users can directly download them and share them as video media to other apps such as WhatsApp, X, and more.
As the feature is rolling out, it might not reflect in the 'Settings' of all accounts at the time of filing. Hence, you can wait for the feature to release. Make sure to update your Instagram app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store to fall in the line at the earliest.
