iOS 18 Leaks: Apple will likely start the public rollout of the iOS 18 update in September, days after the launch of the rumoured iPhone 16 series. The tech giant has already unveiled iOS 18 public beta and new iterations of the developer beta, which testers and developers can try before the official release. Beyond iPhones, users can expect changes to the listening experience for AirPods Pro 2 users.

To enjoy these new features, users may have to use an iOS 18‌, iPadOS 18 or macOS Sequoia running device. If you are an AirPods Pro 2 user, here are the five enhancements you can expect.

iOS 18 Features: What To Expect For AirPods 2

Head Movement Commands: As per Apple's Newsroom post, the AirPods Pro (2nd generation) will allow users to "simply nod their head yes or gently shake their head no to respond to Siri announcements" with iOS 18. This feature will also work to answer/decline calls, interact with messages and notifications and more, according to MacRumors.

Voice Isolation: The company said the feature will enable "even clearer calls" to ensure the caller's voice is crisp and loud even in windy and noisy environments. The TWS will reduce the environmental noise and emphasise the speaker's voice with the help of machine learning. It will be available on the original AirPods Pro‌ and Pro‌ 2.

Spatial Audio: Beyond music and videos, Personalised Spatial Audio listening will expand to games for an immersive experience. It will be available on the ‌AirPods Pro‌, AirPods Max, and AirPods (3rd generation).

Low Latency Mode: The AirPods update will bring an improved audio latency experience for mobile games. Plus, voice quality improvement for chats and streaming with head tracking and 16-bit 48kHz audio support for games will be a part of iOS 18.

Adaptive Audio: The feature will gain granular controls to increase or decrease the level of noise that can sneak into your ears from the environment. However, note that all AirPods models may not receive the features stated above and we may have to wait for the release for more information.

iOS 18 Release Date Predictions

While Apple has not shared a firm timeframe apart from "this fall" for iPhone Xs and later, reports have speculated a more precise timeline. According to 9To5Mac, the public release is expected in mid or late September, which could imply a release between September 16-23.
