YOUTUBE videos 'like and earn' scams on WhatsApp are growing to become the scammers' favourite to dupe victims. While we recently reported a case of an IT professional losing Rs 42 lakh in this scam, the fresh case is from Noida, where a woman lost around Rs 4.38 lakh after she enrolled in a fake part-time job of liking YouTube videos and following the instructions of the scammer, according to a Mirror Now report.
The cybercrime was reported from Sector 61 in Noida, UP. It all started with the woman receiving a WhatsApp message for a seemingly genuine-looking part-time job, luring the lady to earn extra income. Once she inquired about the role on the provided number, the KRAs of liking, sharing and commenting on YouTube videos of e-commerce sites were shared to her.

After showing interest to join, the lady was added to a Telegram group where she received tasks to complete and earn money. While things were fine initially, she received monetary exchanges too, one fine day, she was asked to complete a 'prime task' that led to this loss. A case was registered at Sector 58 police station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code based on the victim's request, Times Now reported.
Taking cognisance of such scams, the government of India ordered the Meta-owned platform to block suspicious accounts, according to India Today. Over 36 lakh WhatsApp accounts were blocked, the news report adds.

- Check such attractive messages for grammatical errors to cross-check if they are fake
