Odisha Television Limited (OTV), a private satellite news channel, launched the State's first AI news anchor on Sunday. The AI journalist was introduced by Jagi Mangat Panda, MD of OTV, at an event in Bhubaneswar. She highlighted the transition from computers to the internet and said it was an attempt to "keep pace" with trends.

Lisa Is Better At Odia Translations Than Google
Litisha Mangat Panda, Digital Business Head of the news organisation, iterated that while Lisa is not as fluent as humans in Odia, it is still better than Google Translate's Odia-to-English translation.
Wearing a traditional handloom attire in one picture and a formal blazer in another, the AI virtual presenter is trained via large language model (LLM) and machine learning (ML) algorithms to deliver news on air. "As we embrace this transformation, we will do so responsibly and inclusively while ensuring fairness and transparency," she said.
These AI innovations picked up pace after OpenAI unveiled its powerful language model ChatGPT which can output conversational responses to user queries.
