Microsoft has announced plans to end support for the Xbox 360 Store and Xbox 360 Marketplace on July 29, 2024. According to Dave McCarthy, Corporate Vice President of Xbox Player Services, in a recent blog post, this move will end the opportunity to purchase new games, downloadable content (DLC), and other entertainment items via these platforms.

Users will still be able to access their purchased games and DLC even though the purchasing functionality will end. Additionally, with backward compatibility, previously purchased Xbox 360 game content will continue to be accessible not only on the Xbox 360 console but also on the more recent Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S devices.

McCarthy emphasised that the gaming landscape has changed dramatically since the release of the Xbox 360 in 2005, with evolving technologies and changing player expectations. The Xbox Series X|S is now devoted to being the best gaming platform for both the present and the future.
